Accessories made from furs such as fur coats, fur boots and fur shawls have been renowned to keep body warm and cozy. Existence of fur is approximately as old as mankind. Primitive Homo sapiens who lived in caves, lit fire with rubbing of stones used to cover themselves with animal fur. This not only hides their private parts but also kept them warm.
Today modern fabric and synthetically produced clothing material has greatly replaces fur items because they are much cheaper and more readily available. However conventional fur items like fur coats, fur shawls and fur leggings still possess the real charm and are a design of luxury and class. Every year prior to winter arrival you will see hundreds of designers across the world using animal fur as basic theme to launch their winter themes. Fur hats, fur gloves and fur belts have also been introduced.
Fur producing animals
Countries rich in live stock are a great source of animal fur. Cats, sheep, goat, rabbit, fox seals, otter and sable are few of many fur producing animals. However in many developed countries like US they alter the name of fur and misguide the buyers by using fancy names for their item. I was devastated to know the fake name of Mongolian wolf given to a dog fur jacket. These misleading attitudes need to be addressed to avoid customer exploitation. Fur undergoes several processes before being available in market and a lay man cannot even think of which animal fur he/she is wearing.
